US Government Cracks Whip on Birth Tourism, Revokes Over 600 Visas

In a bid to protect the sanctity of American citizenship, the United States government has taken a firm stance against birth tourism. According to a recent statement by the Department of State, the government has revoked over 600 visas that were issued to foreigners who traveled to the US primarily to give birth. This move is aimed at ending the practice of birth tourism, where expectant mothers from other countries visit the US to deliver their babies, thereby granting their children automatic American citizenship. The Department of State emphasized that no foreigner is allowed to obtain a visitor visa for the sole purpose of giving birth in the US. The crackdown on birth tourism has led to the revocation of more than 100 visas in West Africa, over 400 in Europe, and 100 in North Africa. The US State Department stated, 'Under President Trump, the State Department is defending the integrity of U.S. citizenship by ending illegal birth tourism schemes.' The department also warned that foreigners are not permitted to obtain visitor visas for the primary purpose of acquiring US citizenship for their children through birth in the US. In one instance, a US embassy in West Africa uncovered a sophisticated network of over 100 foreign nationals who used fake documents and visa 'fixers' to obtain visas for birth tourism. The visas were subsequently revoked, and the operation was shut down. Similarly, in Europe, investigators discovered over 400 suspected birth tourism cases, which were linked to at least six companies that coached applicants on visa interview responses and arranged housing and delivery plans in the US. The US government has vowed to take a tough stance against birth tourism, with the Department of State working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and shut down such operations.
