Deadly Gunmen Raid Claims Five Miners in Plateau's Barkin Ladi

Tragedy struck in Plateau State on Saturday, September 26, as an armed attack on a mining site in Marit village, situated within the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, resulted in the death of five miners. Additionally, two other individuals sustained injuries during the incident.

The unfortunate event was confirmed to newsmen by Rwang Tengwong, the spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM). Tengwong conveyed the deep sorrow felt by the community, stating, “Five persons were k!lled while two others sustained injuries in the attack. It is a very sad and painful development. Our people are once again mourning the loss of lives to v!olence. We condemn this att@ck and call on the security agencies to urgently take steps to protect our communities and prevent further attacks.”

This recent assault comes just days after the Plateau State government had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew across three local government areas, including Barkin Ladi. The curfew was enacted in an attempt to restore law and order following a series of previous attacks and killings that had plagued the region.
