Segilola Resources Boosts Healthcare for 2,700 Residents in Osun Communities

In a bid to enhance the well-being of its host communities, Segilola Resources Operating Limited, a gold mining company, has provided free medical services to over 2,700 residents of Imogbara, Odo-Ijesha, and Iperindo. The fourth Annual Community Medical Outreach, which took place on August 7 and 8, 2026, offered a wide range of medical services, including consultations, laboratory tests, and specialist care. The programme also witnessed the expansion of SegunCare, the company's long-term treatment and support initiative for residents living with chronic diseases, to include comprehensive mental health support. During the outreach, a total of 2,762 medical consultations were conducted, while 81 residents were scheduled for surgical procedures. Additionally, 1,860 laboratory investigations and 563 eye examinations were carried out, with 21 residents scheduled for eye surgeries and 174 receiving free prescription reading glasses. The residents were also screened for various health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, and tuberculosis. Seven cases of chronic mental health issues were identified, and the affected residents received rehabilitation and counselling services. Furthermore, 50 residents were enrolled in SegunCare, which provides monthly medication, routine monitoring, and long-term disease management for those living with chronic illnesses. Since its launch in 2025, SegunCare has supported approximately 279 residents, with the additional 50 beneficiaries enrolled during the latest outreach set to continue receiving care beyond the annual programme. Speaking on the initiative, Dr Princewill Osuchukwu, Medical Services Manager at SROL, stated, 'Our goal has always been to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or financial means. While the annual outreach provides immediate access to essential medical services, we recognize that lasting health outcomes require sustained care.' Adeshina Sherifat, a beneficiary of SegunCare, described the programme as life-changing, saying, 'Before SegunCare, I struggled to afford my medication every month. Today, I receive my medication regularly, and my health is monitored, giving me confidence and peace of mind.' Soji Gbege, Chairman of the Iperindo Community Development Agreement Committee, appreciated SROL's consistency in providing support to the communities, saying, 'What matters most to us is not just what SROL provides during the outreach, but how consistently they have shown up for our communities year after year.' Since its inception, SROL's Annual Community Medical Outreach has reached over 13,000 residents.
