Lagos Road Drama: Driver Forces Alleged Officer to Reverse One-Way

A dramatic scene unfolded recently on a Lagos highway when a motorist, identified as Kolamide, courageously intercepted another driver, purported to be a police officer, for navigating against the flow of traffic. A video of the incident, which has since gained significant traction online, shows Kolamide using his vehicle to block a Toyota Sienna that was blatantly driving on the wrong side of the road.

Kolamide remained resolute, refusing to yield and demanding that the offending vehicle turn around and adhere to the correct traffic direction. Despite vociferous reactions from onlookers and a protracted standoff, the driver, who was flouting traffic regulations, eventually capitulated, reversed his car, and drove off.

The viral footage has sparked diverse reactions among Nigerians on social media. Many have lauded Kolamide's bravery, commending him for upholding the law and challenging lawlessness. However, some bystanders and online commentators were critical of his actions. In the clip, a woman can be heard vociferously labeling him a 'jobless man' for obstructing the traffic offender. Furthermore, several other frustrated drivers reportedly struck Kolamide's car, insisting that he clear the road.

Interestingly, the entire confrontation transpired directly in front of a police station, yet no officers emerged to intervene or assist throughout the duration of the incident.
