Heavy Rainfall Cripples Marina CMS as Floodwaters Swallow Roads, Damage Vehicles

Heavy rainfall has left the Marina CMS area of Lagos Island heavily flooded, with roads completely submerged and several vehicles trapped in rising floodwaters. Videos from the scene show floodwater reaching the engine level of many cars, raising fears that numerous vehicles may have suffered severe engine damage after being submerged. Despite the flooding, many business owners, workers and commuters were forced to wade through knee-deep water just to reach their offices and shops, as normal activities in one of Lagos' busiest commercial districts were severely disrupted. The latest flooding has once again highlighted the city's persistent drainage challenges, with residents calling for urgent and lasting solutions to prevent the annual destruction caused by heavy rainfall.
