Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in parts of Lagos Island, with areas including Apongbon and surrounding streets submerged under water.

A video shared online showed the extent of the flooding, with roads and walkways covered by floodwater, making movement difficult for residents, commuters and business owners.

The lady who shared the video took a swipe at Lagos Island residents, saying they often mock people in Lekki whenever flooding occurs there, but the same situation had now affected their own area.

She questioned the frequent jokes between different parts of Lagos whenever flooding happens, as residents across the state continue to face the challenges caused by heavy rainfall, drainage issues and rising urban pressure.

The latest flooding has once again renewed calls for improved drainage systems and long-term solutions to prevent recurring floods in Lagos communities.
