Gospel Events Postponed, Cancelled Following Toluwanisings' Death

Full Story
The Nigerian gospel music scene is currently in a state of mourning, leading to the cancellation or deferment of several high-profile events following the passing of celebrated gospel artist Olayemi Bolaji, widely known as Toluwanisings. Toluwanisings' death on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans within the gospel community.
Among the groups that have adjusted their schedules are Kaywonder, Pure Gospel Music Generals Akure (PUGMUG), and AY Grace Music Ministry. These organizations stated that their decisions were made in solemn respect for the late singer.
Kaywonder, the voice behind the hit song “Oke Nla,” declared on Thursday that the seventh edition of his Invasion Praise Concert, initially slated for Sunday, October 18, at 2 pm, would be postponed. A statement released by Kaywonder's team explained that the loss had profoundly impacted the gospel music sector, necessitating the event's deferment. The statement read: “Following the heartbreaking loss of one of the Gospel minister, Toluwanisings, we have been deeply affected by this painful moment. In honour of his memory and in recognition of the grief currently felt across the Gospel community, we have prayerfully decided to postpone the concert.” The organizers further noted that despite extensive preparations, the current period called for introspection, grieving, and spiritual reflection. They added: “This is a difficult moment for us all. Although we eagerly anticipated gathering in God’s presence to worship and praise Him, we believe this is a time to pause, reflect, mourn, and stand together in love and prayer.” A new date for the concert will be announced soon, and the public has been urged to remember Toluwanisings in their prayers.
Similarly, PUGMUG announced on Thursday the cancellation of its 10th-anniversary celebration, which was scheduled for Friday, October 16. This decision was also made to honor Toluwanisings, whom the organization affectionately described as a cherished brother and dedicated member. Their announcement stated: “After careful consideration, and in honour of our beloved brother, we regret to announce that the 10th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled.” PUGMUG clarified that the cancellation would allow community members time to grieve and reflect, while also expressing gratitude for a decade of ministry. The organization extended apologies to all guests, ministers, and sponsors affected by the change.
In a related development, AY Grace Music Ministry also confirmed the postponement of its monthly "All Sufficient Monthly Praise" program, which was due to hold on Thursday. An Instagram statement from the ministry attributed this decision to the demise of Toluwanisings, referring to him as a beloved industry colleague. The statement read: “Following the sad and tragic loss of our beloved brother in the gospel music industry, Min. Toluwani Sings, we regret to announce the postponement of this month’s edition of The All Sufficient Monthly Praise.” The ministry pledged to communicate a new date soon and sought understanding for any inconvenience caused. They also requested prayers during this trying time and offered condolences to Toluwanisings' family, friends, and admirers. The statement concluded: “We also pray that God will comfort the family, friends, and loved ones he has left behind and grant them the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
Toluwanisings was widely recognized for his vibrant gospel performances and Yoruba-infused worship songs, including popular tracks like “A Very Big God” and “Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo.” His sudden death has elicited heartfelt tributes from numerous gospel artists and members of the broader Christian music community.
