Pere Urges Nigeria Immigration to Block Tyla's Entry Over Xenophobic Attacks

He has taken to social media to appeal to the Nigerian Immigration Service to deny visas to South African singer, Tyla, and her team, thereby preventing them from entering the country. This move is in response to Tyla's upcoming concert in Lagos, scheduled for December. Pere's stance is in line with the growing demand for a boycott of the concert, as many Nigerians feel that hosting a high-profile South African artist in the country would be insensitive, given the current tensions. The push for a boycott is fueled by the reported killings and attacks on Nigerian nationals residing in South Africa, which has sparked widespread outrage and calls for retaliatory action. Pere has also engaged in a disagreement with activist Omoyele Sowore, who opposes the boycott, arguing that the root cause of the xenophobic violence lies in the governance failures of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration. Pere, however, believes that direct actions, such as visa denials and public boycotts, are necessary immediate responses to the ongoing hostilities against Nigerian citizens abroad.
