The music world is mourning the loss of French electropop legend, Vincent Belorgey, popularly known as DJ Kavinsky. He was found dead at his home in Paris at the age of 50. DJ Kavinsky was renowned for his iconic song, Nightcall, which was featured as the title track for the 2011 movie Drive, starring Ryan Gosling. This talented musician also performed at the 2024 Olympic Games closing ceremony, sharing the stage with Belgian singer Angèle. An investigation into the cause of his death has been launched by the Paris prosecutor's office, which stated that first responders discovered no suspicious elements at the scene. DJ Kavinsky's debut studio album, OutRun, was released in 2013 to huge anticipation, following the success of several popular EPs in the 2000s. In a rare interview with MixMag in 2022, he confessed that the success of his first album put him under pressure. The overwhelming success of Nightcall led to a nine-year hiatus from music before he released his second album, Reborn. Throughout his life, DJ Kavinsky remained a private person, with the stage name being a character he created to maintain his anonymity. As he once said in 2007, 'Kavinsky is a character I created because just putting my face on a record sleeve isn’t something that suits me. Showing my own face holds absolutely no interest for me. I’d much rather make music and tell a story.'
