Prominent Nollywood personality, Ayobami Ojo, has voiced profound disaffection concerning the negative perceptions often linked with her acting career, stating her desire to no longer be identified solely by the "actress" tag. In a recent viral video, Ojo clarified that her active participation in the film industry ceased long ago. She further emphasized that even during her time as an active performer, her lifestyle never aligned with the popular misconceptions people hold about actresses.

Ojo recounted several instances where this societal prejudice directly impacted her. She shared an experience where a potential land acquisition fell through because the vendor reportedly withdrew from the deal. The reason given was that the seller's wife objected to him transacting property with an actress. In another incident, a landlord allegedly declined to lease a commercial space to her for her business after discovering her profession.

The acclaimed actress also revealed that these deeply ingrained stereotypes extended to her personal relationships. She claimed that a man's family once actively dissuaded him from marrying her, purely due to her profession. Concluding her heartfelt video, Ayobami Ojo passionately appealed to the public to refrain from labeling her an actress. She asserted that she has diligently earned all her possessions and committed no wrongdoing to warrant such societal condemnation. "I’m tired of being called an actress. Please stop calling me an actress. I have never done anything wrong. Everything I have, I worked for," she explicitly stated.
