Davido's Early Support for Mayorkun Revealed by Singer's Mum

In a recent podcast interview, Toyin Adewale, the mother of popular Nigerian singer Mayorkun, shared the fascinating story of how her son first came into contact with music superstar Davido. According to her, Mayorkun had visited his cousin's house, where he recorded a cover of one of Davido's hit songs and posted it online. This caught the attention of Davido, who subsequently sent Mayorkun a message. At the time, they were unsure whether the account was genuine or not. However, their doubts were laid to rest when Davido called Mayorkun and sent him a box of clothes along with a substantial amount of money. This marked the beginning of a significant turning point in Mayorkun's music career. When Mayorkun eventually met with Davido, he recorded his song 'Eleko' that same night, after which Davido invited him to come and live with him. This gesture of support from Davido played a crucial role in launching Mayorkun's career to new heights.
