Enugu's New Federal Technical College Begins Classes, Offers Free Education

The Federal Government has officially commenced academic activities at the newly established Federal Technical College situated in Eke, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. This significant development aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s 'Renewed Hope Agenda' and the current administration's 'Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative,' both designed to revolutionize the education landscape and foster a robust pool of skilled technical professionals crucial for the nation's industrial and technological advancement.

Addressing prospective pioneer students and their parents at the college’s supplementary examination centre on Monday, Mr. Gideon Angbeye, the Principal, stated that the institution represents a decisive move by the Federal Government to bridge Nigeria’s existing skill gap. He further announced that the Federal Government has put in place comprehensive provisions to ensure that all initial students receive high-quality technical education entirely free of charge.

Under this fully funded initiative, Mr. Angbeye explained that the government would cover all tuition fees, provide student uniforms, and supply quality, nutritious daily meals. He also confirmed that the Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, would ensure the continuous provision of free and quality meals throughout the students' academic journey.

Detailing the college’s rigorous curriculum, the principal outlined a program structured to maximize hands-on proficiency. He elaborated, “TVET 1 will provide grounding in foundational theory and technical principles; TVET 2 will anchor on intensive, full-time practical exposure and workshop immersion; and TVET 3 will focus on integrated mastery combining advanced practical application with academic theory.”

To deliver world-class training, Angbeye revealed that the college is actively forming strategic partnerships with leading industrial research institutes, including the Projects Development Institute and the Scientific Equipment Development Institute, in addition to other corporate service providers. He urged the pioneer intake to seize this extraordinary opportunity to secure their futures and contribute meaningfully to national development. Furthermore, he extended appreciation to the host community of Eke for their exemplary hospitality, cooperation, and proactive partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education, which facilitated a seamless operational take-off in Enugu State.
