NPF Cautions Recruits Over Bogus September 18 Training Circular

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially disclaimed a widely circulated social media post instructing aspiring Police Constable recruits to report for training on September 18, 2026. Through a statement released on its official X handle on Wednesday, the Force clarified that the publication did not originate from official channels and advised all prospective recruits to ignore it completely.

"The Nigeria Police Force has observed a publication circulating on social media purportedly emanating from the Force, directing prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on 18th September 2026," the statement read. "The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the said publication is not an official communication of the Force and should be disregarded."

The fraudulent document, bearing a date of September 1, 2026, was designed to mimic authentic police letterhead. It reportedly outlined a list of personal items required for the supposed training, such as white canvas shoes and bedding, and indicated various state headquarters as training locations. The NPF has publicly marked images of this document shared online with the word "FAKE."

The Force further urged all intending trainees to "rely solely on information communicated through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force for verified and authentic updates regarding the recruitment and training exercise." Additionally, the police appealed to the public to desist from sharing unverified information that could potentially confuse or mislead applicants.

This recent alert from the NPF is issued amidst the ongoing massive recruitment drive aimed at integrating 50,000 new Police Constables into the Force. This extensive recruitment exercise was initiated by President Bola Tinubu in late 2025, with the goal of tackling prevailing insecurity and bolstering the NPF's personnel strength. The Police Service Commission (PSC), which supervises the recruitment process in partnership with the NPF, launched the application portal on December 15, 2025. Subsequently, in July 2026, the PSC released the list of successful candidates. On August 6, 2026, the PSC formally handed over the 50,000 newly recruited constables to the NPF to commence their training at designated institutions.
