JAMB Shifts O'Level Result Uploads Online, Curbs CBT Centre Rush

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rolled out an innovative online platform, empowering prospective students for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and submit their O’Level results from the comfort of their homes. This fresh initiative, initially supporting results from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), aims to significantly lessen the reliance of candidates on Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for their O’Level result submissions, especially during peak periods.

This new system ensures that JAMB conducts electronic verification of candidates' academic records directly with the respective examination bodies prior to their upload onto individual profiles. Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, stated that this development was conceived to enhance the ease, speed, security, and convenience of the Board's services, simultaneously eradicating difficulties inherent in the conventional manual upload method.

JAMB further noted that this platform is set to tackle issues like lost or confused physical certificates, the submission of unverified or fake results, and inaccuracies arising from manual input of subjects and grades. Through the seamless integration of JAMB’s e-Facility portal with various examination bodies, candidates' results can now be cross-referenced with the original records from these bodies before being incorporated into their JAMB profiles.

The Board affirmed that this technological advancement aligns with its revitalized commitment to customer-centric service delivery, spearheaded by its sixth Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina. The goal is to leverage technology to minimize superfluous physical visits, reduce long queues, and cut down on paperwork.

To initiate the verification and upload process, candidates must first acquire a unique result verification code by accessing the specified online portal. They are required to input their National Identification Number (NIN), indicate the number of O’Level sittings, choose the appropriate examination body or bodies, and furnish their email and GSM contact details. Following this, payment is made via an approved gateway. Subsequently, candidates input their examination specifics, such as examination number, series, and year. A Verification Code is then generated upon successful confirmation.

In the subsequent step, candidates are to text “VERIFY” along with their Verification Code to either 55019 or 66019. JAMB explained that once this is done, the verified result will be uploaded, and candidates will receive a confirmation message acknowledging their submission.

For candidates who have results from two O’Level sittings, the procedure involves logging into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and choosing the “2026 UTME O’Level Upload” option. After inputting the Verification Code, both verified results will appear, allowing candidates to pick their desired subjects. The Board stipulates that a minimum of five and a maximum of nine subjects must be chosen, ensuring no subject is selected more than once, before clicking “Apply the O’Level Results.” A notification will confirm the successful application.

JAMB highlighted that this novel verification service will serve as a crucial alternative, especially when CBT centres are overwhelmed with high traffic, lengthy queues, or encounter network glitches. The Board further committed to enhancing its partnerships with examination bodies and other government agencies, continuously deploying technology to streamline operations and elevate the overall experience for candidates.
