ESUT Slams Two-Year Suspension on Three Law Students Over Exam Irregularities

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology has taken a drastic measure against three of its law students, suspending them for a period of two academic years. This decision was made due to their involvement in examination malpractice, as confirmed by the university's Registrar, Mr. Ambrose Ugwu, in a memo addressed to the students. The affected students, Isong Ugwu, Gad Nwosu, and Roseline Nnamani, with registration numbers ESUT/2023030212973, ESUT/2022030203441, and ESUT/2024030219772 respectively, will be suspended from June 25, 2026, to June 24, 2028. According to the memo, the suspension was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, acting on behalf of the University Senate, following the recommendations of the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee. The students have been directed to return any university property in their possession to their respective Heads of Department and vacate the university campus immediately. Furthermore, the sponsors of the affected students and the National Universities Commission have been informed about the development. It is worth noting that another student, Goodluck Iwuamadi, with registration number ESUT/2025030227502, was exonerated from an allegation of examination malpractice, in line with the committee's recommendation. The suspended students will be required to apply for readmission upon the expiration of their suspension in June 2028.
