Kano Emirate Calls for Peaceful 2027 Elections Through Intensified Prayers

As the 2027 general elections draw near, the Kano Emirate has urged Nigerians to increase their prayers for a peaceful, credible, and successful electoral process. This call was made during a Qur'anic graduation ceremony, where Islamic scholars and traditional leaders emphasized the importance of tolerance, discipline, and responsible conduct in maintaining the country's stability. The Sadauki of Kano, Awal Ado Bayero, represented the Emir of Kano at the ceremony and congratulated the graduates on completing their Qur'anic studies. He encouraged them to see this achievement as the beginning of a lifelong commitment to upholding the values they have learned. Bayero stated that the teachings of the Qur'an play a vital role in promoting peaceful coexistence, good character, and responsible citizenship, especially as the country prepares for the 2027 elections. 'As we approach the 2027 general elections, we pray that the children will continue to pray for the country and that Nigeria will have a successful, peaceful and credible election,' he said. The wife of the Katsina State Governor, Dr Aisha Bala Muhammed, also attended the ceremony and described the completion of the Qur'an as a significant achievement. She urged the graduates to make the teachings of the Qur'an the foundation of their lives and to demonstrate their faith through their conduct. Similarly, the wife of the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hajia Abi Hafsat Abubakar Y. Suleiman, emphasized the need for proper moral and religious education for children. She stated that the Nabalago Foundation, which she co-founded with her husband, is sponsoring students from three Islamic schools participating in the programme. Suleiman challenged the graduates to become living examples of the values they have learned, particularly peace, tolerance, and good character. The Principal of the Abuja National Mosque Academy, Dr Shehu Usman Mohamad, noted that the essence of Qur'anic education is to raise Muslims who can apply the teachings of the Holy Book to their daily lives. He linked moral education directly to Nigeria's security and social challenges, arguing that greater adherence to the principles of the Qur'an could help reduce crime, conflict, and other forms of social disorder.
