NELFUND Supports Over 6,000 Students with ₦1.5 Billion Loan Disbursement

In a move aimed at alleviating the financial burden on students, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦1.5 billion to 6,129 students across three institutions in the country. This disbursement is specifically for the 2025/2026 academic session and covers students from Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology in Ekiti State, Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology in Ogun State, and the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences in Benin City, Edo State. According to the details provided by NELFUND, the breakdown of the disbursement shows that Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology received the largest share of ₦1,360,920,800, which will benefit 5,396 students. This amount was disbursed across five tranches. Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology received ₦104,530,000 for 680 students, while the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences received ₦36,485,000 for 53 students. The confirmation of the receipt of these funds has been acknowledged by the institutions, with the Registrar of Sikiru Adetona College, Dr. Bukola Makinde, stating that the funds have already been disbursed into the bank accounts of the student beneficiaries. She described this support as enabling students to enjoy financial hitch-free academic progress. The Provost of the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, Mabel Omobude, pledged that the disbursed funds will be judiciously applied for their intended educational purposes, in line with global best practices. She also reaffirmed the college's commitment to transparency and accountability in the administration of the facility. The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Andrew Babatunde Omojola, commended NELFUND's leadership for the efficient delivery of the funds. He confirmed the receipt of the full ₦1,360,920,800 disbursed across five tranches for 5,396 students and appreciated the Federal Government and NELFUND's team for their efforts in achieving the objectives of the scheme nationwide.
