In a bid to promote academic excellence and a culture of discipline among young Nigerians, the Gamaliel and Susan Onosode Foundation recently honoured Master Ajisafe Qoreebullah Olamilekan, a former student of Eeman Foundation College in Osogbo, Osun State. The award, known as the Gamaliel Onosode Award for Academic Excellence, was presented to Qoreebullah during the foundation's Founders' Day and 13th anniversary celebration, which took place on May 22, 2026. This prestigious award was given in recognition of Qoreebullah's outstanding performance in the 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, where he achieved straight A grades across all subjects. According to the West African Examinations Council, this impressive feat was confirmed at its Annual General Council Meeting. Currently, Qoreebullah is a 100-level student of Medicine and Surgery at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Osun State. The Executive Director of GAMSU, Mrs Toyin Olanrewaju, stated that the award was created to celebrate outstanding academic achievement while promoting a culture of discipline and consistency among young Nigerians. She noted, 'This kind of achievement deserves to be celebrated,' and added, 'But this award is not only about one student. When we honour excellence, we signal that excellence is the standard.' Olanrewaju also mentioned that the initiative reflects the values of the late Mr Gamaliel Onosode, whose commitment to excellence and national development inspired the foundation's work. 'That is the work Mr Gamaliel Onosode gave his life to, and it remains the work we are committed to,' she said. The award package included a certificate of recognition and a laptop for Qoreebullah, while his former school received a certificate of recognition and a cash gift of N250,000. GAMSU, a non-profit organisation established in May 2013, focuses on improving access to quality education through infrastructure development, scholarships, teacher support, and youth empowerment programmes.
