The Federal University Birnin Kebbi has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of one of its students. Zaharadeen Nuhu, a 300-level student of Biochemistry, lost his life after being attacked by a group of suspected thieves at his off-campus residence in Kalgo Local Government Area of Kebbi State. According to the university's Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Ibrahim Magawata, the deceased student was brutally assaulted with machetes and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The dean, in a circular released on Thursday, June 12, 2026, expressed the university management's deep sadness over the incident, stating that the student's death was a heavy loss to the entire university community. 'It is with a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Allah that the university management announces the death of our dear student, Zaharadeen Nuhu, a 300-level student of the Department of Biochemistry,' the statement read. The university management has since contacted the Nigeria Police Force, Kalgo Division, and an investigation into the incident has commenced.
