Sam Itauma, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Child’s Rights and Rehabilitation Network, has urged students of the Kingdom Life College of Education in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, to focus on their academic pursuits and avoid engaging in social vices such as cultism and internet fraud. Itauma, who was speaking during the institution's matriculation ceremony, emphasized the importance of taking studies seriously and striving to become responsible members of society. He also encouraged the students to participate in the democratic process by voting for leaders who are committed to improving the lives of citizens and rejecting those who exploit them with temporary incentives. Itauma, who was honoured with the Distinguished Education Ambassador Award by the institution, expressed his gratitude to the college for recognizing his contributions to education and child welfare. In his remarks, he stated, 'Take your studies seriously and strive to become shining stars and worthy citizens in society. Shun social vices such as cultism and internet fraud, which is becoming a growing menace in our society today. At the same time, I encourage you to be active participants in the democratic process by voting for leaders committed to improving citizens’ lives and rejecting politicians who exploit them with temporary incentives during elections.' The founder of the college, Dr Godwin Osung, commended Itauma's dedication to education, noting that his scholarship initiatives have enabled hundreds of children to pursue higher education. Pastor Akwaowo James also delivered a lecture titled 'Transforming Society Through Effective Education', emphasizing the importance of education in empowering individuals to become agents of change. The institution also launched its 2026 and 2027 almanac during the ceremony and appealed to corporate organizations and individuals to sponsor students who are eager to pursue academic opportunities.
