Scholarship beneficiaries appeal FG over delayed allowances since 2024

Beneficiaries of the Federal Government National Award Scholarship Scheme in Nigerian universities have called on relevant authorities to urgently address the continued delay in the payment of their scholarship allowances. The students said they have not received any disbursement since 2024, despite the funds being part of approved entitlements meant to support their academic needs, including tuition-related expenses, accommodation and study materials. According to the beneficiaries, the prolonged delay has created significant hardship across various institutions, leaving many students struggling to meet basic academic and welfare requirements. They noted that despite repeated inquiries and efforts to obtain clarification, no clear timeline has been provided for the payment of .outstanding allowances. The students therefore appealed for urgent intervention, transparent communication and immediate release of all owed funds. They stressed that the appeal was made in good faith, as they are only requesting the disbursement of already approved financial support necessary for their studies.
