A New York resident has confessed to the brutal murder and dismemberment of his former girlfriend, whose severed head was discovered inside a suitcase alongside a flower, following the termination of their relationship.

Damon Foy, aged 50, from Kerhonkson, entered a guilty plea last week to a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the 2024 death of 44-year-old Alberta Dale, who hailed from Pennsylvania. This information was released by the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.

Investigations by the district attorney's office revealed that between March 31 and April 1, 2024, Foy committed the murder and proceeded to dismember Dale. He was in the process of disposing of her remains when law enforcement authorities intervened.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office commenced their inquiry on April 1, 2024, after Dale's concerned family members in Pennsylvania contacted police regarding her welfare. Deputies initially performed a welfare check before escalating to a missing person investigation.

On April 1, 2024, officers first visited Foy's apartment, where they located Dale's vehicle, according to a report by the New York Post. The following day, deputies returned to question Foy after a member of the public found Dale's phone by the roadside and handed it over to authorities, prompting investigators to suspect foul play.

Upon their arrival at his residence during the missing person investigation, Foy reportedly whispered to investigators, "She's in there." He further confessed, "I killed her," as documented in court papers cited by the New York Post.

Investigators subsequently secured a search warrant for Foy's home. Inside a closet, they discovered a suitcase containing the victim's remains. Foy was then apprehended and charged in connection with Dale's demise. Court documents indicate that after shining a flashlight on the suitcase, officers "immediately noticed what appeared to be dried blood." The documents further stated, "Officers opened the defendant's suitcase and found Alberta Dale's partial dismembered remains, including her severed head." It was also noted that "The remaining portions of her dismembered body were not located during the execution of the search warrant."

During a later interview, Foy reportedly told investigators that he "loved her." He elaborated on his perceived motive, stating, "The only thing she kept doing after the time throughout the whole relationship was just play me, play me like a fool, play me like a sucker, and just took advantage of the whole f–king system. That's it. I was told to leave my own home. I was told to leave my own f–king home, not a bill in her name, and I was told to leave my own f–king home. Get out. Then it all started coming clearer to me." When questioned about the flower found in the suitcase, Foy vaguely responded that he was contemplating "what still happened last night to take s— over the top."

Court records cited by the New York Post revealed that Foy had a history of domestic violence against Dale. Dale had previously informed authorities that "if she went missing it was because [Foy] killed her." Under the terms of a plea agreement, Foy is anticipated to receive a sentence ranging from 23 years to life imprisonment, with the minimum term being two years less than the maximum of 25 years to life, as reported by the Daily Freeman.
