Lagos PWD Railway Crossing Sees Car-Train Collision

A significant incident unfolded this morning, October 9, in Lagos State, as a train was involved in a collision with a Honda saloon car. The scene of the accident was identified as the PWD railway crossing, situated on the Agege Motor Road in Ikeja.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the development via their official X handle. Footage circulating from the scene depicted the severely damaged remnants of the Honda vehicle, with local residents congregating and actively attempting to dislodge it from the railway tracks.
Details regarding potential casualties from the crash were not immediately made available. In their official communication, LASTMA stated: "A collision involving a train and a Honda car was reported on the rail tracks at PWD seriously affecting vehicular movement at the moment. The car has been pushed off the tracks now by onlookers as Effort is on for evacuation. Officers are on ground managing the traffic situation accordingly as emergency responders are on ground doing the needful."
