Police Uncover Mother's Fake Kidn*p Plot for Two-Year-Old

The Nigeria Police Force, through the dedicated efforts of its Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives, has successfully dismantled two distinct criminal operations following intelligence-driven investigations. One significant case involved the exposure of a fabricated abduction scheme, while the other led to the apprehension of individuals suspected of being part of a kidn*pping and armed robbery syndicate.

CSP Ani Iniedu, the force spokesperson, confirmed that in the first incident, IRT operatives arrested Nansik Wuyep Sule, 34, in connection with the reported disappearance of two-year-old Rito Jesse Davou. Investigations later revealed that Sule had allegedly conspired with the child’s biological mother, Catherine Davou, to stage the abduction. Their aim was to create the impression that the child had been kidn*pped, initially demanding a ransom of N7 million.

Further police inquiries established that the young child was being held at Sule’s residence. From this location, the demand for ransom escalated to N15 million. Another suspect, Luka Emmanuel Butdam, was also taken into custody for his alleged role in making calls to the child’s grandmother regarding the ransom payment. The police successfully located and safely rescued the child, who, after receiving medical attention, was reunited with his biological father.

In a separate, but equally critical, investigation, IRT operatives apprehended Idris Mohammed, also known as Yellow, and Mohammed Bello Adams. These individuals are implicated in the abduction of a commercial driver, Idris Zakari Baba, along with other related criminal acts. Police investigations indicated that Mr. Baba was reportedly lured under the guise of transporting Mohammed from Abuja to Zaria. During the journey, he was allegedly intercepted by armed assailants, taken into a bush, and held captive until a N3 million ransom was paid for his release.

Following the incident, Mr. Baba's vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Corolla, was tracked to Bauchi State and recovered while Mohammed was reportedly attempting to sell it. Further police work also established a link between these suspects and the earlier reported kidn*pping of Pastor David Dahni and his driver, Abdullahi Abubakar, for which a ransom of N10.5 million was reportedly paid.
