Senator Fadahunsi Faces Police Probe Over Alleged Inciting Comments

A recent court directive has ordered the police to launch an investigation into Senator Francis Fadahunsi, following allegations that he made comments inciting violence against members of the Accord party ahead of the Osun State governorship election. The Magistrate's Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued the directive, which was signed by the Registrar, Abdulraham Yusuf. The court's decision was made in response to a complaint filed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. Olajengbesi accused Fadahunsi of making statements that encouraged violence against Accord party members and supporters in a viral video. The senator's alleged comments have sparked controversy, with many calling for him to be held accountable. In a separate development, Olajengbesi has threatened to sue Fadahunsi for defamation and injurious falsehood over statements he made during television interviews. Fadahunsi had accused Olajengbesi of sponsoring thugs and cult groups, allegations that Olajengbesi has denied. The lawyer for Olajengbesi, Hammed Lasisi, has demanded that Fadahunsi retract his statements and issue a public apology. The Osun State Government has also filed a suit against the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, seeking an order to compel them to investigate Fadahunsi's alleged inciting remarks. The government has accused Fadahunsi of calling for the killing of Accord party members and their families, which they say constitutes a direct threat to life and family security.
