Gombe State NSCDC Uncovers Impersonation Ring, Arrests Three Suspects

In a crackdown on impersonation and forgery, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State has apprehended three individuals for allegedly posing as members of the corps. The suspects, identified as Auwal Umar, 26, from Tukulma in Akko Local Government Area, Hamza Usman, 23, from Herwagana, Gombe, and Yakubu Muhammad, 22, also from Herwagana, Gombe, were paraded at the NSCDC State Command in Gombe. According to the Command's Public Relations Officer, CSC Buhari Saad, who represented the State Commandant, Idris Jibrin, the suspects were found in possession of fake NSCDC volunteer identification cards and uniforms. This discovery has raised concerns about potential attempts to impersonate genuine personnel of the corps. Buhari explained that the NSCDC does not issue identification cards to its volunteers, thereby rendering the suspects' alleged possession of such documents and uniforms highly suspicious. The NSCDC spokesperson emphasized that the suspects would face prosecution after a thorough investigation. The corps has urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals claiming to be NSCDC personnel or volunteers, stressing the importance of proper verification. The arrests come as part of the NSCDC's efforts to curb impersonation and maintain the integrity of its operations in Gombe State.
