Lt. Felix Isaac Laid to Rest Following Oyo Abduction Rescue

The Nigerian Army has interred the remains of Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, a 28-year-old officer, who tragically lost his life during a critical operation to rescue abducted teachers and pupils in Oyo State. The solemn ceremony, conducted with full military honours, took place on July 10, 2026, at the 23rd Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
Lt. Isaac was at the forefront, leading troops in the mission to liberate the victims, who eventually regained their freedom on a Friday, July 10, as widely reported by DailyTrust. The exact circumstances surrounding the senior officer's death remain subject to differing accounts. Some reports indicate that his convoy was hit by explosives planted by terrorists within the National Park in Oyo. Conversely, other narratives suggest he stepped on a landmine, which was reportedly set by Ansaru terrorists, the group identified as being responsible for the abduction.
Born on August 25, 1997, Lt. Isaac's sacrifice was not the only one made during the successful rescue operation, which saw the kidnapped individuals released just two days prior to this report.
