Ogun Police Launch Manhunt After Ex-Broadcaster, Guard Murdered

The Ogun State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the tragic deaths of Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, a distinguished retired broadcaster from Ogun State Television, and her security guard. Their bodies were discovered on Sunday, according to police reports.
PUNCH Online reported that 67-year-old Oyesiku and her guard were found deceased following an attack by unknown assailants in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred at her residence located in the Agodo community, along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway within the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the state police command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that it was reported to the Owode-Egba Division on Sunday, June 21, 2026. A resident from Iyana Agodo Village alerted authorities after noticing suspicious activities at the late broadcaster’s home.
Babaseyi elaborated that “Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary assessment revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance.” He added, “During a thorough search of the premises, the corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms. Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. The victim’s vehicle was also observed missing from the premises.”
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has taken charge, issuing directives for a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the double homicide. An intensive investigation is currently underway to uncover the truth, identify, and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime, ensuring they face justice.
The police command has expanded its surveillance and intelligence-led operations across relevant areas as part of proactive measures to solve the case.
The Command also extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, OGTV, the wider media community, and all others affected by this profound loss. CP Ojajuni reassured the public of the police's commitment to delivering justice and urged residents to maintain calm, remain watchful, and share any pertinent information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
In a related development, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, Chairperson of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (Ogun State chapter), expressed her profound shock regarding the brutal killing of the retired senior programme producer, describing her demise as both devastating and heartless.
