Kebbi State Takes Bold Step to Tackle Insecurity with New Mobile Police Base

In a bid to bolster security measures in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris has initiated plans for the establishment of a new Police Mobile Force base in Zuru. The project, aimed at curbing banditry and other forms of criminality in the Kebbi South region, was formally set in motion with the governor handing over land for the base to the contractor during a ceremony in Zuru. The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, played a significant role in the event, symbolically handing over the land. The Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Abubakar Ambursa, received the land on behalf of the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police. This development is part of Governor Idris' comprehensive security intervention program, which includes a commitment he made during a recent visit to Zuru. It also follows his directive to security agencies to reassess and strengthen their operational strategies in response to emerging security challenges across the state. Speaking at the ceremony, the Emir of Zuru commended Governor Idris for prioritizing the safety of residents and providing critical resources to support security agencies. 'Governor Nasir Idris has demonstrated genuine commitment to the protection of lives and property across Kebbi State,' the monarch stated. He noted that despite the security pressures being experienced in different parts of the country, the Kebbi State Government has continued to provide vehicles, logistics, and financial support to security agencies operating in the state. The establishment of the mobile base is expected to enhance rapid response capabilities, improve intelligence gathering, and strengthen security presence in communities vulnerable to attacks by criminal elements. The Emir called on residents to support government initiatives aimed at restoring peace and security and urged them to pray for lasting solutions to the security challenges confronting the region. The event was attended by senior government officials, traditional leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress. Authorities believe that the increased deployment of specialized police units, alongside closer collaboration with local communities, will help curb criminal activities and safeguard lives and livelihoods.
