Bashir Ahmad Mourns Death of Former Defence Spokesperson, Rabe Abubakar, Killed by Bandits

The recent abduction and subsequent death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Defence spokesperson, has sparked widespread outrage and concern. Bashir Ahmad, a former Presidential media aide, took to his social media handle to express his condolences and react to the tragic incident. Abubakar and his wife were kidnapped in Katsina weeks before his death. According to reports, the retired Major General lost his life while in captivity. Bashir Ahmad described the incident as a 'heartbreaking national tragedy' and a stark reminder of the urgent need to address the security challenges facing Nigeria. He stated, 'The tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar in the captivity of bandits is a heartbreaking national tragedy and a stark reminder of the urgent security challenges facing our country.' Ahmad further emphasized that it is disturbing to see a man who dedicated his life to serving and defending Nigeria fall victim to banditry. He called for stronger and more decisive action against the terrorist bandits and those behind them, saying, 'His death should not be treated as just another statistic but as an answer wake-up call for stronger and more decisive action against those terrorist bandits and all those behind them.' Ahmad also prayed for the deceased, saying, 'May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, comfort his family and bring lasting peace and security to our nation. Ameen.' The death of Rabe Abubakar has once again highlighted the need for the Nigerian government to take decisive action against banditry and terrorism in the country.
