Edo Pastor Recounts Horror of Kidnap Ordeal Alongside Wife and Sister

Pastor Caleb Adavize Philip, based in Edo, has shared a harrowing account of his recent kidnap ordeal alongside his wife and sister. In a post on Facebook on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Pastor Philip shared photos of himself, his wife, and sister receiving medical attention at a hospital following their release. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N50 million for their freedom. Pastor Philip described the traumatic experience, marked by fear, torture, and insect bites, as well as the constant threats to their lives. He also recalled the long distances they were forced to trek under the scorching sun and in the rain. 'The worst prayer you could pray for your enemies is for them to be kidnapped, yes, that’s the highest,' Pastor Philip wrote. 'The psychological trauma, the fear, the torture, rain, sun, insect bites, the trekking, the threat to life with ammunition, the huge amount being paid and many more. Lord save our nation. Thank you Jesus for our life.' The pastor's emotional account highlights the devastating impact of kidnapping on victims and their families, and serves as a stark reminder of the need for increased security and protection in the country.
