Presidency Confirms Arrest of Mastermind Behind Fake Tinubu Audio

In a recent development, the presidency has announced the apprehension of Ifechukwu Dennis, the individual alleged to be responsible for creating the fake audio of President Bola Tinubu that went viral on social media. The audio in question was attached to a video featuring Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman VDM, a social media critic. This led to widespread backlash online. President Tinubu's media aide, Bayo Onanuga, had previously shared the AI-generated video and threatened to take legal action against VDM. In a Facebook post on Thursday evening, Onanuga revealed that the originator of the fake audio had been arrested in Benin City. He stated, 'The IGP crack team has arrested Ifechukwu Dennis who originated the fake voice that he passed on to his gullible targets as President Tinubu's voice. Dennis was arrested in Benin. The police will issue an official statement.' This move is seen as a significant step in addressing the spread of misinformation and fake news on social media platforms.
