The Nigeria Customs Service, Edo/Delta Area Command, has initiated a call for enhanced synergy with Delta Ports to significantly improve operational effectiveness and the quality of service provided. This appeal was made on Thursday by Dooyum Ortsen, the new Customs Area Controller for Edo/Delta, during a courtesy visit with his management team to Saadi Dahiru Mohammed, the Ports Manager of Delta Ports in Warri.
According to a statement issued by Assistant Superintendent of Customs, Peters Josu, from the command’s Public Relations Office, the visit was strategically aimed at bolstering institutional relationships, fostering clearer communication, and cultivating stronger cooperation between the two critical organizations. The statement explicitly noted that the visit “was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, enhancing communication, and reinforcing the existing relationship between both parties.”
The meeting provided a platform for both entities to discuss areas of shared interest and to explore practical strategies for increasing cooperation, all in support of efficient port operations and seamless service delivery. Josu emphasized the crucial importance of maintaining cordial working relationships, consistent communication, and reciprocal cooperation throughout their engagement.
The official statement further highlighted, “Both parties acknowledged that although their respective responsibilities may differ, effective collaboration remains essential to achieving shared objectives, particularly in promoting operational efficiency, safety, and professionalism within the port environment.” It also stressed the ongoing necessity for continuous dialogue and active stakeholder engagement to proactively address operational challenges, solidify existing working relationships, and ensure the smooth conduct of all activities within the port environment.
This visit, as per the statement, underscores the organizations' firm commitment to establishing sustainable partnerships with relevant stakeholders and preserving positive institutional relations. There is considerable optimism that this engagement will not only strengthen existing cooperation but also pave the way for sustained collaborative efforts, ultimately serving the interest of effective service delivery. Both organizations reaffirmed their dedication to nurturing this vital relationship through regular interactions, open lines of communication, and a collective commitment to achieving common goals. The visit forms part of broader, ongoing efforts to foster robust stakeholder relations, encourage inter-agency cooperation, and forge partnerships that are instrumental in contributing to improved operational efficiency and service delivery across the board.
