In a bid to enhance its palm oil production capabilities, the Alajue Community in Ede, Osun State, has appealed for support from both the government and private sector. According to the Olu of Alajue, Oba Sulaimon Adebayo, the community's residents are predominantly engaged in palm oil production, an enterprise that could cater to the needs of Osun State and beyond, given the right backing. Oba Adebayo made this known during the community's annual carnival, which marked the end of Eid celebrations. He emphasized the community's potential to produce high-quality palm oil for both domestic consumption and export, provided they receive the necessary investment. The monarch also called for the establishment of a cottage industry in the town, which would add value to the palm oil produced. He noted that the community already has the basic amenities required for the industry to thrive. Oba Adebayo commended the peaceful coexistence among the community's residents and expressed the need for improved infrastructure, including better schools, hospitals, and road networks, to facilitate development. 'The people of Alajue are deeply involved in farming and palm oil production, which can serve the whole of Osun State and other states if properly supported,' he said. 'Government and private investors should consider us for investment in large-scale palm oil production. We have the capacity to produce quality palm oil for local consumption, industrial use, and for export to other countries. I want to call for government and private partnership to enhance our capacity to produce this commodity. We are known across this state for the skills in quality palm oil production and we are ready to produce more, if we are supported. We are also calling for the establishment of a cottage industry that will add value to our palm oil. We can feel government efforts, but we still need better schools, hospitals, and an improved road network to enhance our development,'
