Arsenal Make Bold Move for Guimaraes Amid Newcastle Resistance

In a bid to strengthen their midfield, Arsenal have initiated direct negotiations with Newcastle United for the transfer of Bruno Guimaraes. The 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder has expressed his desire to join the Premier League champions, informing Newcastle of his intention to leave for the Emirates Stadium before the start of the new season. Prior to this development, all discussions between the two clubs were conducted through intermediaries, with Newcastle maintaining that Guimaraes is not for sale. However, Arsenal has signaled their willingness to pay 60 million pounds sterling for the former Lyon player. Newcastle remains resolute, insisting on a higher fee for the midfielder's transfer. This move comes on the heels of Arsenal's failed attempt to sign Morgan Rogers, who was eventually acquired by Chelsea for 117 million pounds sterling. Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, is keen on bolstering his team's midfield and adding width to their attack this summer. The club has also shown interest in other players, including Matheus Fernandes, who recently joined Tottenham, and Bournemouth's Alex Scott, whose club has refused to sell despite his rejection of a new contract offer. Meanwhile, Arsenal has agreed to a 34 million pounds sterling deal for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, who is currently in London for a medical ahead of completing his move.
