Sevilla Defender Tanguy Nianzou Agrees Lille Move

French club Lille OSC has reportedly reached an agreement to acquire defender Tanguy Nianzou, 24, from Spanish side Sevilla. This development, according to a report from Foot Mercato, signifies a return to France for the player.
Nianzou began his career progressing through the youth ranks at Paris Saint-Germain before opting for a move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020, following the expiration of his contract. However, his tenure in Germany was plagued by persistent injuries, limiting him to just 28 appearances, during which he scored one goal and provided one assist.
After two years with Bayern, he transferred to Sevilla. His time in Spain also faced significant challenges due to recurring fitness issues, which he struggled to overcome completely. This resulted in the French defender featuring in only 62 matches across four seasons.
Now, Nianzou is poised for a comeback to French football. The agreement between Lille and Sevilla comes as the latter club faces financial difficulties, prompting their desire to facilitate a deal to reduce their substantial wage bill. While the financial specifics of the transfer remain undisclosed, Nianzou is scheduled to undergo a medical examination with Lille, known as 'Les Dogues', very soon. Should he successfully pass the medical, the defensive player is expected to sign his new contract with the club by next week. The information was provided by GFFN, through Luke Entwistle.
