Atiku Abubakar Opens Digital Platform for Nigerians to Ask Questions

Full Story
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential flagbearer for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has introduced a new digital platform designed to enable Nigerian citizens to directly engage with him. Through this initiative, the public can pose questions regarding his political history, proposed policies, and future aspirations for the nation.
Named 'Ask AA', the platform was slated to commence operations at 8:30 pm on Thursday. This information was conveyed in a press release from Phrank Shaibu, who serves as the Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council. The statement further clarified that the online portal would facilitate Nigerians in submitting inquiries on a range of critical subjects. These include the national economy, security challenges, technological advancements, strategies for job creation, and initiatives aimed at improving living standards.
It was also indicated that Atiku Abubakar himself would address questions posed via the platform, with support from his media team in formulating comprehensive responses. The initiative's core objective, the statement elaborated, is to close the communication divide between the electorate and the former Vice-President. It achieves this by offering a direct avenue for citizens to access details about his stances on issues and his policy blueprints.
Mr. Shaibu emphasized that the platform's purpose is to foster a closer connection between Atiku and the Nigerian populace through direct interaction. He stated, “The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform.” Shaibu further highlighted that this endeavour underscores Atiku's dedication to leveraging contemporary technology to enhance the efficiency, security, and overall effectiveness of governance. Additionally, the campaign council revealed plans to roll out a radio integration feature. This aims to ensure that communities lacking internet connectivity can still partake in the engagement initiative.
Announcing the new platform across his social media channels, Atiku conveyed that the concept stemmed from his conviction that effective leadership necessitates direct communication lines between elected officials and the citizenry. He articulated, “For too long, governance has felt distant—locked behind walls of bureaucracy. But our country’s greatest resource isn’t oil or land; it is our people. If we are going to build the Nigeria of our dreams, we must start by tearing down the walls between leaders and the people.”
Mr. Abubakar characterized 'Ask AA' as a conduit for fostering transparency, accountability, and robust dialogue. He emphasized that Nigerians would have the liberty to scrutinize his economic performance, review his proposed policy frameworks, and contribute ideas for national advancement. He assured, “No filters, no intermediaries.” Furthermore, he revealed his intention to personally contact a select group of participants who opt to share their contact information on the platform. This direct engagement aims to gather insights into their personal experiences and the daily challenges they encounter. Atiku stated, “Beyond answering questions here, I will personally call selected citizens who leave their contact details so I can hear directly about their experiences and the issues affecting their daily lives.”
Having previously held the office of Vice-President from 1999 to 2007, Atiku Abubakar has made multiple attempts to secure the Nigerian presidency. He implored Nigerians to actively engage with the initiative by submitting their inquiries and suggestions. He concluded by asserting that a government that is both technology-driven and transparent must first demonstrate its capacity to listen attentively to its citizens.
