Oyo APC Senator Alli Hails Olubadan Ladoja at 82, Marks Coronation Anniversary

The governorship flagbearer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, recently extended his felicitations to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. The senator's message marked Oba Ladoja's 82nd birthday and also his first anniversary since ascending the revered throne. The congratulatory note, disseminated from Ibadan, the state capital, through Bisi Oladele, Director of Media and Publicity for Alli's campaign organization, lauded Oba Ladoja as an exceptional statesman, a proficient administrator, a shrewd political strategist, and a distinguished traditional ruler. Alli emphasized that the monarch's life has been characterized by dedicated service to Ibadanland, Oyo State, and the entire nation.

According to reports from The PUNCH, Oba Ladoja was formally crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on September 26, 2025, an event that followed the passing of his predecessor, Oba Olakulehin Owolabi, the 43rd Olubadan. Senator Alli, who currently represents the Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, highlighted that both the 82nd birthday and the one-year milestone on the Olubadan throne represent significant achievements. He noted these occasions warrant deep gratitude to Almighty Allah and widespread celebration among the people of Ibadanland.

Alli articulated, “Ladoja’s journey from public service and political leadership to the pinnacle of the traditional institution reflects decades of experience, sacrifice, resilience and commitment to the development and unity of Ibadan.” The APC gubernatorial aspirant further pointed out that the Olubadan’s extensive progression through various levels of the traditional hierarchy before his ascension to the throne has equipped him with profound experience and invaluable institutional knowledge.

Senator Alli went on to commend Oba Ladoja for the grace, insight, and profound sense of duty with which he has worn the Olubadan crown. He described the monarch as a living embodiment of Ibadan’s rich history, its vibrant culture, core values, and age-old traditions.

“Kabiyesi, your 82nd birthday and first anniversary on the throne are powerful reminders of a life of service, sacrifice, courage and uncommon dedication to humanity,” the message partly read. “Your Majesty, you have distinguished yourself as a leader whose contributions to Ibadanland and Oyo transcend political affiliations and generations. The senator for Oyo South concluded his message by offering prayers for sustained peace and prosperity across Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria.
