Inuwa Yahaya Fortifies Gombe Governance with Commissioner, Aide Appointments

Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has taken steps to bolster his administration's operational capacity by approving the appointment of several key officials. These include three individuals designated as Commissioners, two Special Advisers, and four Senior Special Assistants. The move, announced on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Njodi, is part of a broader strategy to enhance the state's governance framework.

Professor Njodi confirmed that Governor Yahaya has submitted the names of the three Commissioner-designates to the Gombe State House of Assembly for legislative screening and subsequent approval. The nominees put forward are Dr. Ahmed Wali Doho, Nasiru Adamu Degri, and Dr. Muhammad A. Bello.

In addition to the commissioner nominees, the SSG also revealed the appointment of Abdulmalik Jibrin and Mohammed Nuhu as Special Advisers. Furthermore, four individuals were named Senior Special Assistants II, tasked with Political and Community Engagement: Jibrin M. Ali, Sadiq Abubakar (widely known as BB Kumo), John Launa, and Danlami Sanda.

The statement clarified that while the appointments of the Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants are effective immediately, the Commissioner-designates' roles are contingent upon the endorsement of the State House of Assembly.

According to the state government, these new appointments are strategically designed to improve coordination within the administration and provide crucial support for the effective implementation of its development agenda. Governor Yahaya, who first assumed office in Gombe State in 2019, secured his re-election in the 2023 governorship polls. His government's functions are carried out through the state executive council and various political and administrative departments responsible for executing government policies and programmes.
