Umahi, Keyamo Blast Obi Over Death Threat Claims, Parking Infraction

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has come out to dismiss the claims of a death threat made by the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi. According to Umahi, Obi's claim is a sign of frustration, and he believes that nobody wants the presidential candidate dead. Instead, Umahi stated that Obi would be alive to contest and lose the 2027 election. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, also weighed in on the matter, criticizing Obi for an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where his vehicle was clamped by a Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) security official. Keyamo stated that Obi must apologize to the FAAN staff and pay a fine of N25,000 for wrong parking. Keyamo explained that he conducted an investigation into the incident and found that Obi's vehicle was parked unattended in a prohibited zone for about 30 minutes, which constitutes a security risk. The minister also attached the CCTV footage of the incident to his post, saying that Obi must live above board and face the consequences of his actions. Umahi further stated that the development and inclusion of the South-east zone by President Bola Tinubu were a major threat to Obi's popularity in the region. He added that the people of the South-east have agreed that they are better off with President Tinubu, who is doing good work for them, rather than playing politics with Obi. The Minister of Works also expressed his readiness to debate with Obi on the gains of the present administration and why the South-east should be grateful for inclusion in national politics.
