Reports indicate that former US President Donald Trump is currently weighing potential clemency for a number of individuals, including prominent music figures Sean "Diddy" Combs and Prakazrel "Pras" Michel of The Fugees. Additionally, some individuals convicted of pollution-related offenses are also reportedly under consideration for pardons. Mr. Combs is presently incarcerated for crimes linked to prostitution, while Michel is serving time for violations related to foreign lobbying activities.

These deliberations for clemency are said to be part of a broader White House initiative aiming to grant "250 pardons for 250 years" in observance of Independence Day. According to two sources who spoke with CBS News, the US president was scheduled to convene a meeting on Friday afternoon, July 3, to discuss the matter of pardons and was expected to make final decisions based on recommendations from his advisers.

It is worth noting that the White House had previously dismissed rumors regarding a potential pardon for Diddy. Furthermore, Mr. Trump himself stated in January that he was not considering an alleged request from Combs for clemency. Trump has a well-documented history of issuing numerous pardons to various personalities, including political associates and celebrities, a practice that has reportedly spurred significant lobbying efforts.

As of Friday morning, July 3, Mr. Trump had not yet committed to a specific number of individuals who would receive clemency. One of the sources revealed that he has been engaging in private discussions concerning these requests, with Combs' plea being among them. A White House official, in a statement to CBS News, affirmed that "President Trump is the ultimate decider on any clemency related actions." Earlier in January, the president informed the New York Times that Combs had indeed sent him a letter requesting a pardon, but he had then indicated he was not considering the request.
