A recent phone call between United States President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly turned heated, with Trump expressing strong disapproval over Israel's planned attacks on Beirut. According to American officials, Trump used strong language during the conversation, telling Netanyahu that 'everybody hates Israel' due to the planned attacks. This outburst came after Iran suspended peace talks following Israel's announcement of continued attacks on Beirut's southern suburb, Dahieh. Trump's remarks, as quoted by one official, included: 'I'm saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.' Another source claimed Trump shouted at Netanyahu, saying: 'What the fuck are you doing?' The call also saw Trump accuse Netanyahu of being ungrateful, referencing the Israeli leader's ongoing corruption trial and previous comments where Trump suggested Netanyahu should receive a pardon. Following the call, Trump announced on social media that no US troops would be sent to Beirut and claimed that forces already moving towards the area had been turned back. He also stated that he had a 'very good call with Hezbollah' regarding a ceasefire arrangement, saying: 'They agreed that all shooting will stop — that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.' Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah later confirmed that the group supported a full ceasefire across Lebanon, which should eventually lead to a complete Israeli troop withdrawal from Lebanese territory. However, Netanyahu maintained Israel's stance, saying that if Hezbollah did not cease attacking Israeli cities and citizens, Israel would attack terror targets in Beirut. Despite initial comments suggesting that talks with Iran were over, Trump later posted on social media that negotiations were continuing 'at a rapid pace.' Trump also told NBC that Iran had not contacted him directly since suspending negotiations, and that going silent could be beneficial for a long time, although this did not necessarily mean military escalation.
