Tiannah Empire Warns: Lagos Risking Submergence Amidst Extensive Development

Fashion designer and entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, widely known as Tiannah Empire, has issued a dire warning regarding the escalating flood crisis in Lagos State. In a recent video, she expressed deep concern that continuous land reclamation, extensive sandfilling, and numerous large-scale construction projects across the metropolis are exacerbating the flooding situation. Her argument centres on the alleged failure of developers and authorities to implement adequate drainage and canal systems alongside these massive undertakings.
Lawani specifically highlighted projects such as Eko Atlantic and other significant urban developments, contending that they have merely displaced existing bodies of water instead of effectively managing them. She cautioned that if this critical issue remains unaddressed, more communities within Lagos are likely to face severe consequences. Furthermore, the celebrity designer questioned the strategic planning behind several ongoing infrastructure initiatives. She strongly urged government agencies and city planners to prioritise robust drainage solutions, comprehensive flood control measures, and the overall safety of the public before the situation deteriorates beyond control.
