Nigeria Is Bleeding: How Many More Nigerians Must Die Before the Government Acts?
Nigeria is gradually becoming a nation ruled by fear, bloodshed, kidnapping, and terrorism. Every day, innocent citizens wake up praying not to become the next victim of bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, or violent criminals. Sadly, many families no longer sleep with both eyes closed because insecurity has taken over our roads, communities, schools, and even our homes.
From the North to the South, killings have become normal headlines. Kidnappers now attack schools, villages, highways, and farms without fear. Terrorists continue to destroy lives while many Nigerians feel abandoned by those sworn to protect them.
The recent heartbreaking killing of Michael Oyedokun, a teacher abducted during the attack on schools in Oyo State, has once again exposed the painful reality of insecurity in Nigeria. Reports revealed that the teacher was brutally beheaded after gunmen attacked schools and kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
This tragedy shocked Nigerians because it happened in Yorubaland, a region many believed was safer from the level of terrorism and brutality happening in other parts of the country. Today, no region appears safe anymore.
Children can no longer go to school peacefully. Farmers cannot go to their farms safely. Travelers are afraid of highways. Communities now contribute money to hire local vigilantes because many people have lost confidence in the nation’s security system.
How did we get here?
A country blessed with resources, intelligent people, and great potential is now known globally for insecurity, corruption, kidnapping, and killings. Nigerians are tired. Nigerians are angry. Nigerians are grieving.
The government must stop giving empty promises and political speeches while innocent citizens continue to die. Security agencies must rise and defend the people. Terrorists and kidnappers should not have more power than the government of a sovereign nation.
When criminals continue to terrorize citizens freely and nothing serious is done, people begin to lose faith in leadership. Nigerians are reaching a dangerous point of frustration. The silence, weakness, and slow response to insecurity are becoming unbearable.
This is no longer about politics, tribe, or religion. It is about human lives. It is about the future of Nigeria. It is about protecting innocent citizens.
The Federal Government, state governments, security agencies, traditional rulers, and every stakeholder must unite and take immediate action before things get completely out of control.
Enough is enough.
Nigeria cannot continue like this.
