Anambra First Lady Dr Nonye Soludo Advocates for Urgent Climate Action

To commemorate World Environment Day, which is observed globally on June 5, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has stressed the importance of adopting environmentally friendly habits in daily life. According to Dr Soludo, every individual, household, school, market, and community has a role to play in protecting the environment, which is crucial for healthy living. In a press statement released on Friday, she noted that the theme for this year's World Environment Day, 'Now for Climate', highlights the need for immediate action against climate change. Dr Soludo explained that the campaign focuses on the alarming signals the Earth is sending, such as extreme heat, floods, and droughts, and the critical steps humanity must take to address the climate crisis. She emphasized that a cleaner environment is not just about aesthetics, but about protecting lives, preventing diseases, and creating a healthier future for all, especially children. Dr Soludo listed proper waste disposal, cleaner surroundings, tree planting, and responsible environmental consciousness as some of the deliberate efforts communities can take to make a lasting difference. Through her non-governmental organisation, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, she remains committed to promoting a culture where personal health and environmental hygiene go hand in hand. Dr Soludo encouraged everyone to embrace simple habits that can make a lasting difference, saying, 'World Environment Day reminds us that healthy living equally begins with a healthy environment. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the communities we live in are all connected to the decisions we make every day. A cleaner environment is not just about aesthetics; it is about protecting lives, preventing diseases, and creating a healthier future for us and, most importantly, for our children.' She added, 'Together, let's nurture a greener, cleaner, smarter, and healthier Anambra.'
