Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu and the nation's security chiefs, urging them to take immediate action to rescue the abducted schoolchildren in Oyo state. In a statement posted on X on Sunday, Sowore emphasized that if the abducted children and other kidnapped individuals are not released, he will mobilize protesters to occupy the presidential villa. He stated, 'If Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his service chiefs fail to track down and secure the release of the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and other kidnapped people, we will have no choice but to occupy Aso Rock Villa this week!' This threat comes amid widespread public outcry over the abduction of pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire LGA of Oyo state. The incident occurred on May 15 when gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and LA Primary School in Ogbomoso, resulting in the abduction of at least 45 schoolchildren and teachers, as well as the killing of an assistant head teacher and a commercial motorcyclist. While in captivity, another teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was brutally beheaded. The incident has sparked protests by teachers, students, and civil society groups, who are demanding urgent action from security agencies and the federal government.
