CEO's N36million Fraud Case: Court Delays Bail Ruling — Blessing

The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has decided to postpone its ruling on the bail application of Blessing CEO, a popular social media influencer, who is being tried for allegedly defrauding someone of N36million. Blessing CEO, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with obtaining money under false pretences and stealing. According to the EFCC, she collected N36million from a woman named Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, claiming she would help her lease a six-bedroom house in Lekki, Lagos, but instead used the money for herself. The court, presided over by Justice D.I. Dipeolu, heard arguments from both the prosecution and the defence on Friday and has set June 9, 2026, as the date to deliver its ruling on the bail application. This decision will determine whether Blessing CEO will remain in custody while awaiting the start of her trial. The defence argued that Blessing CEO had already refunded N24million to the complainant and was willing to pay the remaining balance, but the EFCC opposed this, stating that the Federal Government was the prosecuting authority in the case and that any settlement discussions should not affect the criminal proceedings. Justice Dipeolu agreed with the EFCC and ruled that any settlement talks could continue, but would not stop the trial. Blessing CEO is known for her outspoken views on relationships, marriage, and celebrity lifestyles, and has been involved in several high-profile disputes and controversies over the years. If found guilty, she could face penalties under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act and other applicable laws. The case has generated significant public interest, with many Nigerians following the developments closely. The court's decision on June 9, 2026, will be crucial in determining the outcome of the case and the fate of Blessing CEO.
