Actor Patrick Ifeanyi Explains Giving Up Job After Wedding To Secure Marriage

Nigerian actor and father-of-three, Patrick Ifeanyi, recently disclosed the circumstances surrounding a significant decision he made to safeguard his marriage shortly after tying the knot. The incident involved a business offer that surfaced just months into his newly-wedded life.

Ifeanyi recounted how a particular individual approached him with a business proposition to establish a new branch in Kano. This arrangement would have required the actor to relocate to Kano, leaving his wife behind at their Enugu residence. He detailed the interaction, stating, "When I newly married my wife, just a few months into the marriage, this guy came to me with a business proposal. We were planning to open a branch in Kano, and the idea was already in the pipeline."

The actor also recalled a prior encounter with the same individual, who had once instructed his wife and her sister to clean their slippers before entering his car – an incident that left Ifeanyi feeling embarrassed at the time, though he remained silent.

Months later, this same man presented the instruction: "You will have to go to Kano to oversee the opening of the new branch." Ifeanyi noted that this period coincided with heightened insecurity in Kano, a city frequently affected by Boko Haram activities. He pondered the situation, observing the man and then his new wife, while an intense internal deliberation took place.

Ifeanyi expressed his suspicions regarding the man's true intentions, questioning whether the proposal was genuinely for business expansion or an attempt to create an opportunity to encroach on his marital duties. He mused, "Is this man sending me to Kano to expand the business, or is he trying to create an opportunity to take over my conjugal duties?" adding, "Because, honestly, people dey for this life oooo."

Without engaging in arguments or negotiations, Ifeanyi simply withdrew from the arrangement, effectively shelving the entire business plan. Reflecting on his decision, he admitted, "Looking back now, I don't know whether I escaped a dangerous business trip or a dangerous business partner. But one thing is certain: I was not about to leave my newly married wife behind and go and become a branch manager in a place where even my own life was not guaranteed."

He concluded with a profound lesson learned from matrimony: "My brothers, marriage teaches you many things. Sometimes, protecting your home is not about fighting. Sometimes, it is about quietly withdrawing from a business opportunity and allowing the branch to remain permanently closed." He reiterated his earlier sentiment, "People dey for this life oooo."
