Trailer for Moses Inwang's 'Ordinary People' Out Before September Netflix Debut

Celebrated Nigerian filmmaker Moses Inwang has officially released the trailer for his highly anticipated action thriller/drama series, 'Ordinary People'. The series is set to make its global debut exclusively on Netflix on September 4, 2026. This eight-episode production, which was shot across various locations including Lagos, Bayelsa, and Berlin, Germany, features an extensive ensemble cast. It promises a compelling narrative that blends intense action sequences with profound human drama.

The recently unveiled trailer provides viewers with a first look at the series' thrilling action, the intricate connections between its characters, and the hidden secrets within Mirage Estate. This upscale community, where life appears serene, actually conceals complex realities. Inwang commented on the series' theme, stating, "Ordinary People is about the masks we wear and the truths we hide." He further elaborated, "I wanted to tell a story about people who look like us, live next door to us, and yet are capable of the extraordinary when pushed to the edge. This has been a labour of love, and I’m proud to finally share it with the world on Netflix."

The star-studded cast includes notable names such as Ramsey Nouah, Adunni Ade, Chidi Mokeme, Michelle Dede, Lasisi Elenu, Eddy Watson, and Shawn Faqua. Also featured are Uche Montana, Sharon Ooja, Jackie Appiah, Adjetey Anang, Gbenga Titiloye, Bimbo Manuel, Aproko Doctor, Randa Eissa, Stanley Evans, and Margaret Echeghe.

According to Inwang, the project took three years to complete in production, following its initial conception six years ago. He proudly described 'Ordinary People' as the most star-studded film or television series ever produced in Nigeria. Reflecting on the extensive journey to bring the series to the screen, the filmmaker shared in a social media announcement alongside the trailer: "Six years ago I conceived it. For three years I’ve lived it, day and night, labouring to bring it to life. Today, I present to you the official trailer of Ordinary People!"

The core of the series revolves around the residents of Mirage Estate, whose seemingly normal existences begin to unravel as past secrets clash with present dangers. These unfolding events compel neighbours to confront challenging decisions concerning loyalty, ambition, redemption, and survival. It also tests the lengths they are willing to go to safeguard the lives they have meticulously built. Inwang tantalizingly warned, "Be careful! The ordinary people you call neighbours are not as ordinary as they seem."

The decision to film across Nigeria and Germany provides the production with a broader visual scope, with Lagos and Bayelsa serving as significant locations alongside Berlin. Inwang, an acclaimed director, producer, and screenwriter with multiple awards, has a portfolio that includes 'Blood Vessel', 'Alter Ego', 'Merry Men 2 & 3', 'Bad Comments', 'Crazy People', and 'Lockdown'. He regards 'Ordinary People' as his most ambitious undertaking to date, a culmination of years of dedicated development and production.
