Talay Riley's Life Cut Short: Grammy-Winning Singer Dies at 35

The music world is in mourning as Talay Riley, a British-Nigerian singer-songwriter, has passed away at the age of 35. Riley, whose real name is Yinka Mark Orabiyi, died on June 5, 2026, after being stabbed in East London. According to the police, they responded to a call about a stabbing incident on Pankhurst Avenue, where they found Riley with multiple stab wounds in the garden of a property on Rayleigh Road. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Riley was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, who is in his 20s, was also taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and is currently in a non-life-threatening condition. The police have arrested three individuals, two men aged 27 and 24, and a 25-year-old woman, in connection with the incident. However, the 24-year-old man and the 25-year-old woman have been released without any further action, while the 27-year-old man has been released on bail pending further investigation. The homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command have launched a murder investigation into the incident and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward with any information. Talay Riley was a renowned singer-songwriter who had worked with several top artists, including Dua Lipa, Usher, Chipmunk, Craig David, Chris Brown, Nick Jonas, and Britney Spears. His family has paid tribute to him, describing him as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought love, light, and joy to their family and to all who knew him. His brother, Scribz Riley, has also written an emotional tribute to him on Instagram, remembering him as a talented, kind, and spirited individual who was taken away too soon. Several industry figures, including Stormzy, Craig David, Kehlani, and Khalid, have also paid their tributes to Talay Riley, expressing their shock and sadness at his sudden death. A California-based record label, Position Music, has also shared a tribute to Riley, describing him as an extraordinary songwriter, artist, and creative whose impact on music will be felt for generations to come.
